Follow 93A 5km to the Edith Cavell Road. The parking area is 11km up the road, just past the Cavell Hostel. Walk down the gravel road right of the parking area and cross the bridge over Cavell Creek (50m). Continue up the gravel road for 50m until you see the corrals on the left. All Horseback and guided hiking trips meet at 8:30am.

Jasper National Park Once at the corral the only access to the Tonquin Valley is on foot or on horseback. The trail is 18.6km (11.6miles). Following the Astoria River to its headwaters, the trail provides outstanding views of Majestic Mountains and Glaciers as it passes through sub-alpine forests and open meadows. Tonquin Amethyst Lake lodge is situated on a knoll that overlooks the Lake with exceptional views of the Ramparts and surrounding peaks.

Important Note: The 2006 "Gemtrek" map is inaccurate! Tonquin Valley Adventures is located at the middle of the lake. NOT at the west end.
